Chris Minns has acknowledged the difficult road ahead for Labor in a key seat after a star candidate withdrew from the election race just weeks out from polling day in NSW.

New South Wales Labor leader Chris Minns has conceded the withdrawal of a star candidate from the state election race poses a"challenge" for the party in its bid to win back government after 12 years in opposition.

Mr Minns told reporters"it will be very difficult" for Labor to claim Monaro, a seat the party most recently held between 2003 and 2011, in light of Mr Campese's departure. Labor needs a net gain of 11 seats to win majority government but could form a minority government if it takes five electorates from the Coalition.

"But I'm confident we can put forward the team in the key seats with the right policies and our senior leadership team to win on the 25th of March."

High prices ‘what you get’ when you elect Labor government: Alex AnticHigh prices ‘what you get’ when you elect Labor government: Alex AnticLiberal Senator Alex Antic says high cost-of-living prices is what happens “when you elect a Labor government”. “It’s as simple as that, we had all sorts of promises about $275 power bill cuts, and we’re getting quite the opposite,” Mr Antic told Sky News host Rita Panahi. “It does seem as though Australians can unfortunately look at the possibility of further interest rate rises.”

Labor ‘happy’ to see taxpayer funds go to former party figures without a tender processLabor ‘happy’ to see taxpayer funds go to former party figures without a tender processSky News host Rita Panahi has taken a look at former Labor figures doing 'very well thanks to the largesse' of taxpayers. Sydney Morning Herald revealed that former Labor minister Greg Combet was awarded a lucrative contract advising the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet without an open tender process. 'We're not accusing those recipients of acting improperly, not at all, but I've got to say the optics aren't great for the Albanese government,' Ms Panahi said. When the Morrison government was still in power, Labor members were vocal about spending public money without an open tender process. 'How quickly the worm turns - now that Labor is in power, they're happy to see taxpayer funds go to former Labor figures without a tender process,' Ms Panahi said. 'Perhaps they're just creating potential cases for their new National Anti-Corruption Commission to look at.'

‘Political self-interest’ drove Labor to ‘give in’ on borders‘Political self-interest’ drove Labor to ‘give in’ on bordersLabor giving in on borders is a 'willingness to sacrifice the national interest' for a 'cheap political win', says Sky News host Peta Credlin. “The news that extra ships and planes have been diverted to border protection duties shows more clearly than anything … Labor's decision to abolish temporary protection visas has told people smugglers that the back door to Australia has once again been left open,' Ms Credlin said. Ms Credlin said it was 'naked, political self-interest' driving Labor's actions. 'You see, Labor is fighting for its life in inner-city Greens seats ... look at Brisbane as an example at the last election, look at the Prime Minister's own seat of Grayndler in Sydney. 'So giving in on borders is about trying to stop the bleed of Labor votes to the Greens, and nothing at all about humanitarian compassion.'
