High temperatures will soar into the upper 90s to around 100⁰ this weekend.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The heat is on here in Central Alabama! High temperatures will soar into the middle 90s today and the upper 90s both afternoons this weekend. It will easily be the hottest stretch of days we’ve seen so far this year. The last time Montgomery saw a forecast like this was last August of last year when highs reached the upper 90s and 100s.
The exact forecast is calling for a high temperature of 96° today, 99° tomorrow and 98° on Father’s Day. The record high in Montgomery for each of the next three days is exactly 100 degrees for Capital City, so it will be a close call! The humidity will continue to be noticeably high, which means it will feel a little bit hotter than it actually is. Peak heat indices this afternoon will rise into the upper 90s, then it’s 100° to 105° Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
With this being the first true blast of heat this year, it will be important to practice heat safety all weekend long. Some suggestions we have to stay safe include:Spending time in the A/C or shaded areas when possibleFortunately temperatures will come down closer to normal mid-June levels heading into next week. Highs will still be in the mid-90s on Monday, but it should be mostly low 90s after that.
In terms of any heat relief in the form of wet weather, there really doesn’t appear to be much. The only chances of rain are Saturday, Sunday and Monday -- each of those days with a roughly 20% chance of isolated showers.Beyond Monday it’s likely we see entirely dry weather for a few days. Clouds will be more prevalent early next week, but rain chances will be near zero Tuesday and beyond next week.
