In honor of AAPI Heritage Month, Very Local has just released an all-new original premiering on Wednesday, May 8. Follow one Governor’s brave decision that shaped the cultural fabric of a Midwestern state and eventually changed immigration policies across the country. “ Refugees Welcome ” tells the story of Tai Dam refugees and how, in 1975, Iowa Gov.
The documentary follows the story of Jasmine Vong, the granddaughter of a Tai Dam refugee, who is planning her wedding to her college sweetheart, Jeffrey Newland.
