Korean actress Kang Soo-youn has died at the age of 55, it has been confirmed.
It states that Soo-youn was rushed to hospital on Thursday last week after suffering a cerebral haemorrhage but died at around 3pm on Saturday. Confirming the star’s passing, a spokesperson for the festival wrote in tribute: ‘With a heavy heart, we send our deepest condolences for the sudden loss of former festival director, Kang Soo-youn.‘Kang contributed to introduction the excellence of Korean cinema to the whole world and devoted herself to BIFF as festival director from 2015 to 2017.
