Ancient Muncaster Castle is set to come alive with colour and flamboyance
when it is taken over by drag queens. The majestic medieval castle, which is famed for being haunted, is located close to Ravenglass in Cumbria.
Attendees are encouraged to wear bold and colourful outfits that would not look out of place on Ru Paul's Drag Race. The elaborate venue, which sits on Roman foundations, has a stunning backdrop of the Cumbria fells, making it well suited to the notoriously extravagant and extra drag queen scene.View gallery It will be hosted by Nova, with organisers keen to introduce a more "culturally diverse" events programme to West Cumbria.
"Whether it’s giving someone a compliment, telling them a joke or just making people smile and laugh, it’s a magical feeling and this will be a magical event.” The event will feature live entertainment and performances from top drag queens and even a drag 'king' alongside games and dancing. "I think it’s fair to say our ancient walls will never have seen anything like it before," he added. "We are really excited to be adding Dragcaster to the wide array of events staged at the castle.
