No bent coppers or bombs this time - our Vicky plays a sleep-deprived career woman
Nottingham actress Vicky McClure is to appear in a new thriller Insomnia. In the six-part series, the star of Trigger Point and Line of Duty plays a successful career woman who fears she is losing her mind when her dream life starts to unravel into a nightmare.
One scene shows her in her pyjamas knee deep in a lake in the middle of the night, while in another she is on the floor with her head in her hands.The TV series is based on the novel of the same name by bestselling author Sarah Pinborough. Also starring as Emma's husband Robert is Tom Cullen, who featured in The Gold and Downton Abbey. Fellow Line of Duty actress Leanne Best, who played PC Jackie Brickford, plays Emma's estranged sister Phoebe.
The show synopsis says: "A couple of weeks before her 40th birthday, Emma stops sleeping – just as her mother had done right before she suffered a violent psychotic breakdown on the night of her own 40th birthday. Emma's mother always told her she'd go the same way, that she had the same 'bad blood' and now Emma's terrified it's true.
