TV favourite Vicky Pattison is reportedly "distraught" over the negative reaction to her new Channel 4 documentary, Vicky Pattison : My Deepfake Sex Tape, insiders say. The hard-hitting programme dives into the troubling phenomenon of deepfake pornography where technology is misused to create falsified explicit content and its harmful impacts.
"She's very upset and hurt that she's been attacked over this documentary, when she was trying to do some good. She thought the response would be positive and she'd raise awareness, but she doesn't feel like she's been taken seriously. She's trying to get rid of her old image, but is wondering if this was the wrong topic to go with."
"Organisations, including those I work with, strongly advised against this approach, warning it could compromise her safety, increase traffic to the very websites profiting from non-consensual abuse, and undermine the fight for survivor-centred legislation. While Vicky's intentions may have been to raise awareness, this decision by Channel 4 feels like a betrayal to survivors like me who have fought tirelessly for recognition, dignity and justice.
To draw attention to the issue, Vicky, who gained fame on Geordie Shore, made the bold decision to create and leak a fake clip of herself on X, using special effects to superimpose her face onto a performer, making it appear as though she was engaging in a sex act.
