Vicky Pattison has publicly shared her harrowing experience of being ignored by male doctors for years while suffering from a debilitating health condition. The 37-year-old reality star, known for her role in Geordie Shore, revealed that she endured depression, exhaustion, and agonizing period pains for over five years before finally receiving a diagnosis of premenstrual dysphoric disorder ( PMDD ).
Pattison described her condition as a relentless cycle of misery lasting 10 days to two weeks, often leading to suicidal thoughts. She expressed her frustration at the lack of understanding and empathy she encountered from healthcare professionals, particularly men, who dismissed her symptoms and made her feel ashamed. Pattison emphasized the severity of PMDD, highlighting the physical symptoms like aches, pains, exhaustion, cramps, and breast pain, as well as the emotional turmoil including mood swings, erratic behavior, and feelings of hopelessness. She shared that she eventually sought private medical care after being repeatedly dismissed by conventional healthcare providers.Pattison's open discussion on ITV's Good Morning Britain aims to raise awareness about PMDD, a condition she believes is often misunderstood and underdiagnosed.
