French teenage titan Victor Wembanyama decides to fully focus on his upcoming NBA rookie season with the San Antonio Spurs, forgoing his spot in the 2023 FIBA World Cup in the process.
Victor Wembanyama has reversed course, deciding not to play for France in this summer’s FIBA World Cup so he can focus on training for his upcoming rookie season in the NBA and the 2024 Summer Olympics.
“It would not be realistic in terms of development and not prudent in terms of health,” Wembanyama told the newspaper. France is the reigning Olympic silver medalist that has an eye on winning the World Cup in September.
