The western Victorian city recorded 46 millimetres of rain yesterday, the wettest June day since 1923 when theAccording to BOM, in the 24 hours to 9am Thursday, 46.2mm of rain fell, with 20mm of that falling between 7pm on Wednesday and 1am Thursday. Bureau duty forecaster Morgan Pumper told ABC Ballarat Breakfast that near-record-high rains have been seen across the state.In the Grampians, its 48.4mm is the highest since 2020.
The soaking was driven by a slow-moving cold front near the South Australian border, which also brought gale-force wind gusts throughout the day and into the evening.The wintery blast made for a busy 24 hours for the Victoria State Emergency Service. In the state's south-west, the town of Warrnambool had 13 call-outs for help by 7:30am, making it one of the most in-demand locations for the SES.A high-pressure system is forecast to develop over South Australia on Friday that will extend across Victoria, bringing more settled conditions.The weekend will be dry and a touch warmer, with a maximum of 12 degrees Celsius on both Saturday and Sunday.
