Daniel Andrews, who is already the highest paid Premier in the nation, will now take home close to $500,000 after Victorian MPs were given a pay bump.
The Victorian Independent Remuneration Tribunal handed down its annual determination which sets out the salaries of MPs, electorate office allowances, and communications budgets.
His deputy, Jacinta Allan, will take home $409,608 and Opposition Leader John Pesutto will receive $383,760 per annum.Shadow ministers will get an increased salary of $17,375 plus $12,452 in expenses, which will take their total package to $228,666. The tribunal also set the value of an MP’s electorate office allowance at between $45,022 and $53,933 per annum, which is dependent on the size of the area represented.
The value of the motor vehicle allowance also received a lift to between $23,225 and $34,994 per annum, which is available to “MPs who elect not to be provided with a fully maintained motor vehicle”.
