Flash flooding has left a major Nottinghamshire road swamped tonight
. The deluge is affecting a stretch of the A52 that was struck by heavy rain.
It comes after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms covering the East Midlands, running until midnight tonight . "Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and possible road closures," the warning said.The Met Office's forecast for the East Midlands tomorrow says: "Clearer and brighter to start with sunny spells through the day.
The Met Office said some places within the yellow warning area could see around 60mm of rainfall over a six-hour period on Sunday. "However, due to the nature of these thunderstorms, some places will see much lower rainfall amounts, or even manage to avoid them altogether," it said.
