Jalen Hurts had one of the all-time great performances by an Eagles quarterback and it led Philadelphia to a 24-7 victory in the second game of the Week 2 Monday Night Football doubleheader.
Hurts became only the third player in Monday Night Football history to post 300+ passing yards, 50+ rushing yards, and multiple rushing touchdowns, joining Cam Newton and Michael Vick in that group . Hurts was 19 for 20 for 171 yards on short passes and completed 7 of 11 vertical passes for 162 yards and a 53-yard touchdown to Quez Watkins.
The Eagles defense wasn’t quite that dominant, but it forced three and outs on six of Minnesota’s first nine drives and racked up interceptions on two of those possessions. Darius Slay led the effort in this area, as he had two interceptions and five passes defensed. Those picks led to Kirk Cousins throwing three interceptions for the first time since Week 2 of the 2020 season. Philadelphia also did a superb job of slowing Justin Jefferson, as he tallied only six catches for 48 yards one week after leading the league in receiving yards.
Minnesota hosts Detroit next week in an NFC North battle. Philadelphia goes to Washington in an NFC East clash with the Commanders.
