Vile paedophile who abused two children decades apart unmasked after becoming 'bored' and bragging online
A vile paedophile who committed appalling abuse on two children decades apart was finally caught after he bragged online while 'bored' during lockdown. Jeffrey Owens, 44, was branded 'dangerous' and locked up for eight-and-a-half years after he was snared by an undercover police operation.
Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court heard that the two NCA officers posed online as paedophiles. A female officer said she had two children aged six and eight. Owens told how he'd like to meet her to sexually abuse the girls, and asked for naked pictures of them. His laptop and other devices were examined, and it was discovered that he had downloaded more than 4,000 indecent images of children, and a further 22 which featured bestiality. The court heard of the devastation that Owen's horrendous crimes has caused.
"The reality is you are unable to admit to yourself the full nature of your deviant behaviour," he told Owens. He was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in prison, and must serve two-thirds of the term in custody before the Parole Board decide whether he can safely be released. He will also have to observe an extra four years on licence.
