A new feature on the second-hand selling platform Vinted that automatically lowers item prices after an offer is accepted has sparked frustration among sellers. TikTok user Emily shared her experience, demonstrating how the automatic price reduction can lead to lost revenue when buyers don't complete the purchase.
If your wardrobes are overflowing and you need a good clear out, or if you're looking for a way to earn some extra cash, selling your clothes and other unwanted items on Vinted could be the ideal solution. Vinted sellers have noticed a new feature that has been added to the second hand selling platform has its prices lowered automatically in the app, resulting in them losing money.
A TikTok user named Emily shared a screenshot from her personal Vinted account, where viewers can see that's she's gotten an offer of £7.60 on a blouse that she was selling for £9.50 on her account. Emily decided to accept the offered price – and when she did, a message popped up on the screen saying that the item's price had been updated. 'Now, it's okay if that person is going to buy the item, but a lot of the time they don't,' Emily shared to her viewers. She went on to say that she had put a different top up for sale on Vinted for £7.50, to which someone quickly made a new offer of £5 but never ended up paying for the item after Emily had accepted the new price. 'I then had another person offer me £3 for the item,' Emily revealed. 'So because I accepted the £5, the top went £5 for everyone. And because that person didn't purchase it straight away someone else sent me an offer for £3, which I declined. 'Thankfully they bought the item, but Vinted, people want a discount. Because whatever price you have that item on for, the customer is gonna want it for less.' She went on to say that since most of her sales were done through offers, the new feature is rather frustrating. And she's not the only one to think this. One person commented on Emily's video and said: 'They should be like eBay – if you make an offer you are charged automatically if the seller accepts.' Another user wrote: 'Oh no!!! I don't like that!!! I sometimes only accept offers based on people's reviews! x' However, several users also shared a simple hack on how to fix the price change
