Ricky Clark threatened a Community Protection Officer who had been sent to investigate a report of anti-social behaviour

A violent man labelled a 'persistent nuisance' by police has been banned from a supermarket, shopping centre and street in a Nottinghamshire town. Ricky Clark, 28, had been inside a block of flats on Lammas Close, Sutton-in-Ashfield, on Saturday, January 9, when he had started to threaten an Ashfield District Council Community Protection Officer who had been sent to investigate a report of antisocial behaviour.

Clark began to make threats of harm toward the victim, causing them to retreat outside the building, where Clark followed and continued to pursue the victim. Clark, of no fixed address, was convicted after pleading guilty on Wednesday, February 14, to using threatening words and behaviour towards the council officer, causing them to fear they would be attacked.

Clark was sentenced to a community rehabilitation order and told to pay compensation to his victim. An application for a Criminal Behaviour Order was later brought forward which argued Clark was not only a violent individual but also a persistent nuisance within Sutton-in-Ashfield, particularly at the Asda Supermarket, Idlewells Shopping Centre, and Lammas Close. The Criminal Behaviour Order was granted in whole on Wednesday, March 13, by Mansfield Magistrates Court.

PC Norris, of Nottinghamshire Police's Sutton Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Clark has been reported to Nottinghamshire Police by lots of local residents for antisocial behaviour and violence within the locality. The courts have reviewed the evidence, and believed it necessary to issue the order, which not only sets out clearly to Clark where he cannot go, but also what he cannot do.

"It is thanks to evidence gathered from local residents and retail staff, as well as reports made to police through 101 and 999 that the courts are able to issue such an order. I would like to encourage any local resident to please continue reporting anti-social behaviour and persistent issues, like begging, within their community so that the police can take the necessary actions and put forward the evidence to back this up.
