What the ECHO spotted when in attendance at Liverpool's latest opening training session
Liverpool took part in open training on Monday ahead of their Champions League league phase clash with Bayer Leverkusen. And they were given a welcome boost by the presence of Ibrahima Konate as he avoided serious injury despite being replaced at half-time in their weekend victory over Brighton & Hove Albion. While the Frenchman took part in the session as one of a 23-man squad, the Reds were still without longer-term absentees Alisson Becker, Federico Chiesa, Harvey Elliott and Diogo Jota.
Of course, they weren’t the only ones with Alexis Mac Allister and Kostas Tsimikas among the senior stars to not be in the right place. This prompted captain Virgil van Dijk to scold his team-mates and gesture for them to hurry up and head towards the right exercise. Amused by the faux pas, Curtis Jones slow-clapped Mac Allister as he belatedly headed towards the right exercise. At this point, the Argentine time responded with a gesture of his own.
