The set-up plays out like an informal lecture - think less Oxford and more Kibbutz, where Westwood shows an image of 2 snakes forming a circle, with a dollar sign placed in the middle, before giving an explanation to her astute listeners. "You have the economy and the climate in the loop. Two snakes eating each other's tail. The room continues. Governments cause poverty. Poverty is the cause of crime. Therefore, politicians are criminals.
Finally, someone in fashion is able to put their narcissism aside and address heart-wrenching issues such poverty, unjust criminalisation and climate change. Westwood also understands, and takes perfect advantage of, her platform, using LFW as a means to make change, rather than parade around pretty clothes. The dollar may be dead, but long live Vivienne Westwood.
