The Financial Review is projecting the Indigenous Voice to parliament has been defeated, ending the project to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in the Australian Constitution.
After a bitter campaign, and years of work by the signatories to the 2017 Uluru Statement from the Heart, Australian voters have resoundingly voted No on Saturday. Based on early results, it appears the ACT could be the only jurisdiction to deliver a majority Yes vote. The No vote is leading strongly in electorates across the country.Early results from the Australian Electoral Commission show no path to victory for the Voice.
