The end of April saw the southern and central Great Plains experience one of the strongest and most damaging tornado outbreaks in recent history. Two rounds of supercell thunderstorms brought more thanstorm in Oklahoma that saw winds in excess of 170 mph. These storms left a path of devastation, including at least four deaths, dozens of injuries and destroying homes and other structures.

Like many of the other extreme weather events that have become more frequent and volatile, tornadoes can occur anywhere and anytime, although the probability is relatively low. It’s important to pay attention to and take seriously weather forecasts and alerts as we remain in a very active pattern at least for the next few weeks.
