European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky at a joint press conference in Kyiv. claims the Israel-Gaza conflict is “taking away the focus” from his country’s war with Russia and said this is one of the Kremlin’s “goals”.
He said: “It’s clear that the war in the Middle East is taking away the focus” from Ukraine, adding Russia wanted this focus to be “weakened,” but stressed that “everything is in our powers”.Mr Zaluzhny said that the war was now moving to a “positional” or static stage, and this would benefit Moscow by “allowing it to rebuild its military power”.
Earlier this month, Mr Zelensky told Nato defence ministers at the organisation’s headquarters in Brussels, that he fears that the aftermath of Hamas’s attack on Israel could reduce military support for his country.Mr Zelensky added to reporters outside the Belgium parliament: “If there are other tragedies in the world, there is only a certain amount of military support to share, and Russia hopes that support will be divided.
