Voters divided over Ulez pollution charges to drive in cities

The low emissions zone charge has become a key battleground in the London mayoral elections

According to the figures, two-thirds – 66 per cent – of the British publicWhen informed about the concept of Ulez, respondents were roughly divided over the scheme, with 36 per cent saying they would be opposed to one being implemented in a city near them, and 37 per cent supportive.

During a televised debate on Thursday, Ms Hall said: “I will absolutely get rid of it on day one, there is no question.” The Conservatives believe its campaign against the Ulez expansion was instrumental in the party holding on to its Uxbridge and West Ruislip constituency in last year’s by-election after Boris Johnson stepped down.
