Lehi, American Fork, Highland, Alpine, Cedar Hills and the Suncrest development of Draper all held emergency city council meetings on Monday and formed an interlocal agreement to conduct their own studies into a district split. Technically, the interlocal group of cities hasn’t made any decision to split yet.American Fork Assistant City Administrator Camden Bird said they’re just looking at options, but the municipalities and the district could have very different ideas.
She said the board didn’t give the public adequate time to speak during a lease revenue bond hearing for the high school in Saratoga Springs. She said it can be frustrating to see communities on the west side generate the funds they need but not have the ability to control where the money is used. Alpine School District Communications Director Rich Stowell said if their measure gets on the ballot, every voter in the district would see it.
