Former coach Stefano Vukov remains banned from the WTA Tour after an investigation into his behavior towards player Elena Rybakina confirmed his suspension. The WTA declined to reveal details about the investigation or the duration of the ban.
Stefano Vukov , the former coach of world number five tennis player Elena Rybakina , will continue to be banned from the WTA Tour following an independent investigation into his conduct towards the player. The WTA, the governing body of women's tennis, confirmed on Tuesday that Vukov's ban had been upheld. In a statement to BBC Sport, the WTA stated, 'Following this process, the suspension remains in place.
To protect the confidentiality and integrity of the investigation and its findings, the WTA will not provide further details. We remain committed to ensuring that all matters are handled in a fair and objective manner in accordance with the WTA Code of Conduct.' The organization declined to specify the duration of Vukov's ban or which specific provisions of the WTA Code of Conduct he is alleged to have violated. This decision prevents Rybakina from re-engaging Vukov as her coach, a prospect she had expressed earlier this year. Concerns regarding Vukov's behavior towards the 25-year-old Rybakina have been raised by several individuals over the past few seasons, including coach and commentator Pam Shriver. Rybakina, however, has stated that she has never lodged any complaints against Vukov, saying, 'I don't agree with a lot of things the WTA do in the sense of my relationship with Stefano'. Rybakina's collaboration with Vukov began during her adolescence, and he played a pivotal role in her achieving her first Grand Slam victory at Wimbledon. However, their partnership concluded before the US Open last year. In January, Rybakina announced her intention to have Vukov rejoin her team. Nevertheless, the provisional suspension prevented him from receiving accreditation for the opening Grand Slam of the season. Rybakina previously acknowledged Vukov's ongoing support, stating that he was assisting her with 'a lot of things, on the court, outside of the court'
