Warburtons , a well-known baking firm, was compelled to discard a batch of loaves after comedian Paddy McGuinness, 51, neglected to wear a beard net during filming at one of their bakeries. In his latest episode of BBC 's Inside The Factory, Paddy returned to the Warburtons bread factory, a place that holds special significance for him as it was where he secured his first paying job back in 1989.
He shared with The Mirror that he used to clean ovens at the factory and earned less than £20 for his efforts. While that may seem insignificant today, Paddy reminisced that even a ten-pound note would have felt like a fortune in Bolton back then. However, it seems Paddy's fondness for Warburtons wasn't reciprocated. Viewers quickly noticed Paddy's lapse in food hygiene by only wearing a hair net instead of the required beard net.One viewer voiced their concern on social media, stating, 'Paddy McGuinness is one of the best-known and most popular celebrities around - and there he was setting an absolutely terrible example. To make it worse, Warburtons workers were stood chatting to him the whole time. Why did no one say anything about it?' Warburtons responded to the viewer's concern, assuring them that the safety of the product wasn't compromised during filming. Their customer care team told The Sun, 'We would like to reassure you that the food safety of the product was not compromised during the filming. All products were disposed of where interactions with the product had taken place.' While they didn't disclose the exact number of loaves affected, they added, 'Having Paddy on site was a real pleasure. The handful of loaves, and balls of dough he interacted with during the episode were sent to be made into animal feed. They were gratefully received.'Paddy, reflecting on his time at Warburtons, told The Mirror, 'It was a lovely feeling knowing you had a tenner. A tenner back then in Bolton with me and my mates, I was like f***ing Jeff Bezos, you know.' He further elaborated on his dedication to earning money even in the harshest conditions, revealing he would wake up at 6 am every Saturday during the winter, braving the rain, freezing temperatures, and even a hole in his trainer.
