Members of the city's Integration Joint Board will meet tomorrow to set a budget with health and social care services facing a £36m shortfall.

Planned cuts to health and social care services will make “an already atrocious situation even worse”, unions have warned — as over 150 jobs are set to be removed.

Ahead of the meeting, union members from Unison, Unite and the GMB held a protest outside the city’s health and social care partnership headquarters. “The workers on the frontline have felt the effects of over a decade of cuts. They have been asked to provide the same services with less workers and the demand has gone up.

He criticised a planned cut to public holidays. Workers can currently claim double time for up to 12.5 public holidays per year, but this is set to be cut to 6.5. The other 6 public holidays would be classed as normal working days. Glasgow’s IJB receives funding from the council and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, but officials have said neither allocation fully meets the pressures faced.

Officials have also listed a planned £3.5m cut to a “maximising independence programme”, which aims to keep people “living at home for as long as possible”. Described as service reform, the proposal would focus on “developing alternative ways of providing services”. Around 20 full-time equivalent jobs are expected to be affected.
