The tickets are known as a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN)
A warning has been issued over scam text messages which appear to be requesting payments for parking fines.
Lancashire County Council has shared the warning, stating they are aware of a new phone text scam which purports to be a parking fine. These payments are known as a Penalty Charge Notice . The Council states they will "never send a text or any other message to your phone about parking fines". This means that if anyone finds themselves with a message of such nature on their mobiles, it is a scam. The bogus texts will include a link to a website asking you to call a phone number. Those on the other end of the call will then attempt to gain your personal details.
If you have received a genuine PCN, go to Lancashire County Council's website or call their Customer Service Centre on 0300 123 6713. Subscribe to our daily newsletter LANCS LIVE NEWS and get all the biggest stories from across Lancashire direct to your inbox
