Recent research found that smartwatch wristbands were home to dangerous bacteria that could lead to illness and infection.
Anyone with a smartwatch is being warned as the fitness trackers carry lots of harmful bacteria capable of causing disease.
Biological scientist from the university, Nwadiuto Esiobu, explained: "Plastic and rubber wristbands may provide a more appropriate environment for bacterial growth as porous and static surfaces tend to attract and be colonised by bacteria," The study highlights the need to clean watches, with many neglecting to sanitise the fitness accessory regularly.
