Warning from County Councils Network comes as the government already faces a backlash in rural areas of the 'farm tax'
Oliver said all councils were now expected to pick up the bill for the increase in the national living wage as well as extra costs for care providers due to the hike in employers’ national insurance . But at the Budget the Treasury announced that only £600m of the new £1.3bn in funding will be allocated this way, while the remaining £700m will be set aside for a “targeted deprivation-based approach” – focusing on urban areas.
