The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning covering Greater Manchester
A weather warning has been issued for ice and freezing fog which could lead to rush hour travel disruption for Monday morning commuters. Like the rest of the country, the region is in the midst of a cold snap caused by air that has moved in from the Arctic, with temperatures set to plunge as low as minus three degrees Celsius in parts of Greater Manchester overnight.
"Additionally, snowfall that is now easing near and over the Cotswolds, as well as isolated showers elsewhere may lead to some ice developing on untreated surfaces" it adds. It is expected to remain misty with poor visibility into the later morning before some sunny spells help bring temperatures back above freezing from around 11am.
“If you have a pre-existing medical condition, you should heat your home to a temperature that is comfortable for you. In rooms you mostly use such as the living room or bedroom, try to heat them to at least 18°C if you can. Chief Inspector Michael Parker from the force's Roads Policing Unit, said: “There is an increase in road traffic collisions at this time of year and ice is just one of several reasons for this.
