Merseyside Police said it will use 'all available powers' to bring those selling modified fire sticks to court
Merseyside Police has vowed to use "all available powers" to crack down on the sale of dodgy fire sticks after a dad narrowly escaped prison due to his illegal trade.
It was discovered that O’Donnell was advertising an illegal IPTV subscription service on Facebook under the name "Kevo James". His account, which had over 3,600 members, offered premium packages priced between £40 and £85 for a 12-month contract. Sales were arranged through Facebook or WhatsApp messages, and the fire sticks were delivered either by post or in person.
"Illegal streaming is far from a victimless crime, and as well as the impact it has on businesses and content creators, it essentially means that legitimate subscribers pay for those who illegally access such services. Illegal streams also increase the risk of users receiving malware, which can put them at increased risk of falling victim to Computer Misuse Act offences.
