One in four Brits are behind with their bills
More than one in four Brits are behind with bills - with an average £28 debt each month - according to Citizens Advice. The research shows the average £28 debt comes four years after they had a surplus of £21 at the end of the month.
Friday's energy price cap is expected to set a typical annual household bill at about £1,926 from October. But those who contacted Citizens Advice for help had debts averaging £1,711. This is up a third on 2019, the charity said.
