Temperatures again hit 100 degrees in the nation's capital on Wednesday, the fourth day in a row of triple digits.
Residents in Washington, D.C., have endured the most scorching three-day heat wave in nearly a century as extreme temperatures continue to scald the U.S. Northeast.Much of the nation has battled extreme heat this week, with high temperatures focused on the Midwest and Northeast states. Heat peaked on Tuesday and is expected to slowly cool off throughout the week, according to the NWS HeatRisk, a tool assessing heat-related impacts over a 24-hour period.Washington, D.C.
On Sunday, the high temperature hit 101 degrees, topping the 100 set in 1954; thermometers reached 102 degrees on Monday, beating the 100-degree mark set in 1988; and as of the post's date on Tuesday, temperatures hit 101 degrees. But they gradually climbed to 104 later in the day, tying the record set in 1988, making it the hottest day since July 7, 2012.
