Emma Reynolds has been appointed as the new Pensions Minister at the DWP.

The Women Against State Pension Inequality campaign have welcomed the appointment of Emma Reynolds as the new Pensions Minister at the Department for Work and Pensions . Shortly after the announcement, WASPI took to social media congratulating the Labour MP while also pressing home the urgent need for the “swift implementation” of a compensation plan for women affected by changes to their State Pension age.

Ms Reynolds was appointed in a dual role as Parliamentary Secretary at the Treasury and the Department of Work and Pensions on Tuesday. “The upcoming pensions review, as pledged in Labour’s manifesto, must be handled with precision. Tackling the pension engagement crisis, the ever-growing advice gap, resolving the issue of small pots, and improving pension transfers are just a few of the critical areas that need attention.”

The State Pension Triple Lock, which guarantees the State Pension rises each year in line with the highest between September inflation, earnings growth or by 2.5 per cent, will be retained over the next five years under Labour. Ms Madden said: “Hundreds of candidates who actively support WASPI's calls for fair and fast compensation have been elected to this new Parliament. This includes over 70 Liberal Democrat MPs who have been steadfast in their commitment to 1950’s-born women and we look forward to working with them to achieve justice.
