“We work in this profession where there are legends and GOATS and all of that when it comes to playing or coaching, I just haven’t run across many people like him,” Kiffin explained. “All these stories come out about how he impacted them,” he said. “We already know the stories of making players good, but the impact on people’s lives and genuine care of people.”
“Everything he did - he stopped and talked to people - was non-transactional,” Kiffin said. “That’s really rare. To be successful on the field but to maintain the way he was raised in a small town in Nebraska and not lose that.”
