The details of that announcement have not been released yet, but it comes on the heels of three major illegal cannabis busts in the Bronx this month.
Mayor Eric Adams and Gov. Kathy Hochul are slated to be in the Wakefield section of the Bronx today, making a cannabis related announcement.
The sheriff's office told News 12, nine people were arrested after more than 170 pounds and $1 million worth of illegal cannabis products were seized there. Less than a week later, Mayor Adams said the largest bust happened at a Mott Haven business on Timpson Avenue. Officials said more than 1,700 pounds and $10 million worth of illegal products were seized.
Last Wednesday, officials from the Office of Cannabis Management told News 12 a store on Arthur Avenue was shut down when drugs were found during an inspection with the Department of Tax and Finance. All these raids are part of the city’s ongoing “Operation Padlock to Protect," an effort to shut down illegal cannabis shops across the city.
