Noel Pearson will use his National Press Club address on Wednesday to contrast prominent ‘No’ advocate Warren Mundine’s assessment of the Voice to Parliament.
Pearson – who is one of the key architects of the national indigenous advisory body – will strike a positive vision for the Voice in his major speech a day after Mundine’s appearance.
"This referendum is testing the idea that a nation conceived in the fiction of Terra Nullius – a continent empty of owners – can come to a new understanding of who we are,” Mr Pearson will say. “If affirmed, this referendum will seize our first best chance and last best hope for a lasting settlement.”
