Race 2 of the 2023 Supercars Championship season-opening Newcastle 500 has been red-flagged because of a starting grid crash that dislodged a concrete barrier. 7NEWS

Tickford Racing 22-year-old Declan Fraser made it no further than 50 metres before he was turned into the pit wall by Brad Jones Racing’s Macauley Jones, who shared the 12th row of the grid with Fraser.Declan Fraser ran into trouble just seconds into the race.The barrier was so far shifted out of position that a crane had to be used to put it back in its place.

The race was suspended for about 20 minutes while repairs took place before it restarted at 3.30pm local time. It was the second Tickford Racing car to get into trouble on Sunday after James Courtney’s disastrous top-10 shootout.
