In this episode of Freeze Frame, Eggers, Skarsgård and Dafoe recall their first introductions to the famous vampire, how they developed the characters and what they enjoyed the most about working with each other.
“I’ve been wanting to work with Robert ever since I saw his first movie, The Witch,” recalls Bill Skarsgård in the latest episode of Freeze Frame for Esquire. “He’s one of the greatest filmmakers alive.” Now, almost a decade on, the actor and director have joined forces for Eggers’ gothic thriller, Nosferatu in which Skarsgård stars as the titular, vampiric demon.
“This is such a remarkable cast of very brave, committed, hungry actors who really wanted to be there,” Eggers shared. “It was such an enjoyable experience.”Dafoe previously worked with Eggers on The Lighthouse and The Northman, the latter of which also starred Skarsgård’s elder brother, Alexander. “When asked me to work on Nosferatu, I was very happy to,” Dafoe says. “The character is very interesting, beautifully written.
