And the hardy band that includes Scotland's own Bob MacIntyre and the former world number one are basking in their triumph at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club. Luke Donald's team saw off Team USA in convincing fashion to take home the famous trophy, with USA not being able to beat their Ryder Cup rivals on European soil in over three decades. A dominating first day in Italy set the tone for Europe to take the gold with English golfer Tommy Fleetwood the man to seal the deal on Sunday.
And thus the wild celebrations began with fans diving in to the water in Rome, and interviews growing wildly excitable with Shane Lowry screaming to Fleetwood: 'I f****** love you'. And now on the winners bus, McIlroy, who had an eventful week on and off the green, is leading the 'USA is terrified, Europe's on fire' chant.
A clip shared to Team Europe's Twitter shows the golfers having a rare old time and rocking the boogie bus to the tune of 'Freed from Desire' by Gala, a popular one for football fans across the country. The Northern Irishman was visibly emotional after the triumph and held back tears as he was interviewed following his match on Sunday.
