Kevin Sinfield and Rob Burrow reduced people to tears after completing the inaugural Leeds Marathon. The pair were cheered on by thousands of well-wishers as they made their way around the track, starting and finishing at Headingley Stadium.
After doing so, Sinfield, who was captain of the legendary Rhinos 'Golden Generation' of which Burrow played a major part, lifted his friend out of his seat and carried him over the finishing line, prompting huge cheers from those in attendance at Headingley.On a day featuring multiple powerful moments, the sight of the pair completing the marathon together evoked strong emotions in the stands and across social media.
Before the marathon started, Sinfield revealed over £3 million had been raised for various charities through the marathon, with over £1 million of that going to Motor Neurone Disease Association. Sinfield has raised over £8 million through his various efforts while Burrow has brought worldwide awareness through his bravery.
