LAKEHILLS, TEXAS -

"Fishing's not fun, there's no swimming, trees are everywhere. The lakes down low. We want our lake back," says Lakehills resident Brendon Carroll.

For residents near Medina Lake, it's been a tough five-year stretch. Very little rain over the Medina Lake recharge basin, and virtually no water flow on the Medina River. But after the recent rain, a sign of hope.Along the banks of the Medina River, something we have not seen in years. A good flow on the river, running at 137 cubic feet per second on Wednesday afternoon. All of this water is heading towards Medina Lake. At Medina Lake, there is still a lot of work to be done.

To get the lake filled up, we need to see consistent events like what we've seen this week to keep the river flowing up into the lake. It's a process that will likely take a very long time, but for local residents like Tanya Simpson who recently moved from Arizona, this storm was a blessing. "It was fantastic. My first time and I absolutely enjoyed the storm. The rain, the sound of it. We needed it," says Simpson.
