A water leak flooded a tunnel connecting gates at the Salt Lake City International Airport, causing issues for three hours. Crews are working to fix the leak and redirect the water while repairs are being made. The costs will not be borne by taxpayers.

Crews at the Salt Lake International Airport are looking for ways to fix a water leak that flowed into in the tunnel connecting two main concourses. Airport officials said the leak caused issues in the tunnel for three hours on Monday. A utility corridor was opened for travelers to get through while crews addressed the flooding. Water is being redirected to another area while they make repairs. Officials assured the costs do not fall on taxpayers.

“Basically, the funds are generated in a number of ways,” said Nancy Volmer, spokesperson for the Salt Lake City Airport. “There's a lot of fees that the different tenants pay. And, of course, passengers pay. The airlines pay the airlines a different passenger fee, too, when they buy their tickets. Those fees are what's being worked there towards operation,” Volmer sai
