The hospital has remained open for care the past several months.

“With these results, the hospital, with the approval of the city health department, is discontinuing the use of filters on sinks, showers and other water sources, as well as the exclusive use of bottled water for drinking,” said the health officials and clinic representatives in a joint statement.

In February, two people tested positive for the bacteria that causes Legionellosis following stays at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, according to Canton City Public Health officials and a representative for the Cleveland Clinic.Legionella is a common bacteria found in the environment, and in water systems, especially hot water systems and some species of Legionella bacteria can cause illness, said a health official.
