David Lloyd Clubs has unveiled a collection of waterproof suits, designed to help office workers seamlessly transition from their workspace to the swimming pool and back. The innovative 'Swim Suit' collection was developed in response to feedback from members who found it challenging to incorporate exercise into their busy daily schedules. Crafted from specialist water-resistant, hydrophobic fabric, each piece takes over three weeks to produce.
Speaking about the new design, they said: 'The 20 minutes or so to get ready and showered after exercising can eat into your day. Now, you don't even need to think about it - you can be straight out of the pool and back at your desk in a matter of seconds.' They added that integrating wellness into the day can significantly impact overall wellbeing, but finding the time can be difficult, so any assistance in maximising your time can make a big difference. A survey of 2,000 office workers has uncovered that a staggering 80 per cent sometimes have to endure up to five hours of back-to-back meeting or work over three hours more than their contracted hours. This intense schedule often forces them to skip fitness and wellness activities due to time constraints. However, the desire to stay active is strong, with two-thirds expressing regret that their job means they can't focus on their fitness and wellness as much as they'd like. Moreover, an impressive 70 per cent think that workplaces should actively encourage staff to take breaks for wellness during office hours. 'More and more members are using our work stations and dipping in and out of the pool, gym, group classes, or padel courts throughout the day, creating a much more balanced work life,' the spokesperson added. Of those who manage to fit in exercise, 18% use their lunch break for this purpose, yet 40% would feel guilty about exercising during work time. 'The pressures of work and family commitments can be overwhelming and it is hard to carve out time to look after ourselves,' said the spokesperson. 'Rather than starting the new year with unrealistic goals, it's more beneficial to form healthy habits that integrate into our lifestyles, improving wellness over the long term.
