Football Insider have been told by sources that Watford haved agreed to sign Rhys Healey after forward left Toluouse on a free transfer.

sources have told Football Insider.Watford have moved quickly to snap up the versatile forward, 28, who will help fill the void by Joao Pedro’s departure to Brighton. The forward scored 40 goals in 78 matches for Toulouse and finished as top scorer in Ligue 2 and helped his side to promotion in the 21/22 season.

Injury restricted Healey to four Ligue 1 appearances during the 2022-23 season as he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture at the start of the season. He returned to the Toulouse squad for the last league match of the season and marked his comeback with a goal against Monaco in what would be his final appearance for the club.

Healey is set to join Watford ahead of new head coach Valerien Ismael’s debut season in charge, after taking over from Chris Wilder, who left the club towards the end of last season. The striker previously joined Cardiff from Connah’s Quay in 2013, but spent the majority of his time at the club out on loan, with spells at Colchester United, Dundee, Newport County and Torquay as well as MK Dons.Healy played more games for MK Dons than he did at Cardiff as he managed to sore 21 goals in 42 appearances across two seasons.
