J’Keveon Lewis, 18, and Elijah Monette, 20, both of Waukegan, were ordered Monday to remain in jail until prosecutors can ask for pretrial detention.
Police arrested two men and recovered a number of firearms after a Waukegan carjacking that led to a multi-city, high-speed chase Sunday, according to Lake County prosecutors.
They are charged with unlawful use of a weapon charges, and Monette is charged with aggravated vehicular carjacking. The pair, along with several others, then drove off in the woman’s car, Assistant State’s Attorney Jeffrey Facklam said at their hearings in first-appearance court.
