When the government announced plans to extend the M65 to connect East Lancashire to the M6 and M61 in 1972 many living in its path feared for their futures.

Dave Woods has lived with his wife Gill in Greenbank Terrace since 1987. "We can only hear the motorway noise a bit," Dave told LancsLive.
Frazer has lived in one of the houses in Blackburn Road which overlook the bridge passing over the A666 since he was a toddler.
