“I know for a fact there are still people in Lismore waiting to get power back on a year later,” Mr Price said. “State and federal schemes to buy back properties are stuck in red tape deeper than the mud that went through those places. “Financial support has been hard to access; claims have been denied if you don’t have a receipt—many of them floated down the river with furniture and pets.”
Mr Price said the “human tragedy” in Turkey, which was rocked by a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake, should serve as a reminder to the politicians who promised help after the year of floods but haven’t delivered.
