Columbus city leaders and the local NAACP have launched an ambitious new initiative aimed at addressing crime and violence. They are calling on communities and

It won't been easy. So far this year, 128 homicides in the city of Columbus. 8 of those just in the month of October. Tuesday afternoon, one of the city's latest shootings on the west side. It's a grassroots push to get people city wide involved in the fight for safer neighborhoods. Community leaders told ABC 6 that each individual in the city has to get involved in an effort to spark change."We will do what we can to keep the next person, the next child beside us safe. I believe this, I believe that we got us," Columbus City Council president Shannon Hardin said.
"It is the duty of all of us to share in this effort," Columbus City Schools superintendent Dr. Angela Chapman said. "When it comes down to it, we need to bring this issue of gun violence and how to solve it back to our village, back to our communities," Councilman Emmanuel Remy stressed.lies in its call to action for community involvement.
